John 15

John 15:11, 17

11 “I have spoken these things to you so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.

17 This is what I command you: Love one another.

Love one another – This is the command that we are to keep (guard, protect). Not as slaves,
carrying out these commands because “the Master said so.” – But rather, as friends, because
we know the whole story, we have the inside scoop, we know what God is up to! Jesus told us
in John 15, this so that HIS joy may be in us, and that joy may be complete!

We certainly do work. We put our hands to the plow, and it’s not easy.
But the attitude we are to have is grounded in love and produces joy.
The closest thing I can think of is a child playing on a sunny day down at
the beach. They play tirelessly, for endless hours, building castles,
swimming…all of it at their best effort, and all of it filled with joy.
When it comes time to go, they don’t want to leave!

If you’re coming to “work” today and it feels nothing like that, check
your attitude at the door. Motivated by love, filled with joy. John 15
